Call for Proposals

CoCA has an immediate opening for an artist, curator, or artists’ group generating emerging and experimental art forms to present in our 4,500 sf gallery in Georgetown’s Seattle Design Center. Installation will occur as soon as February 2, 2015 and run through March 14, 2015.

DEADLINE: ASAP

Proposals from curators for group exhibitions and submissions from individual artists will be accepted and reviewed. Additionally, in our mission to support artists at all stages of their careers, we are open to proposals from artists or artist groups with a particularly large project or creative experiment that requires a big space to contemplate or generate work within a month’s timeframe. This residency style approach does not need to finalize in an exhibition. We prefer to have objects and/or artifacts on display as the gallery will be open to the public Monday through Friday, 10am – 4pm. Please note that we can not accept proposals that result in loud and/or continuous noise, processes that are a potential fire hazard, and/or use toxic materials since they are not allowed in the gallery.

Installations by local artists are encouraged. Because of the unusually fast timeline for this opportunity, we are not able to accept work that is being shipped and there is no submission fee. Accepted artists/curators will need to deliver the art and may be an integral part of the installation process as well.

Proposals may be kept on file for future possible exhibitions; accepted artists/exhibitions will be selected by the CoCA Curatorial Committee. The exhibition will be up through early March. All awarded exhibition(s) will be notified by February 10, 2015 at the latest. No phone calls please.

We look forward to receiving your proposals and ideas!

We’ll hold an artist reception/closing party on Saturday, March 14, 6-9pm as part of Georgetown Art Attack Second Saturday art walk.
