May's CoCA Star: Alex Robinson

Posted by caroline on May 3, 2016

Alex Robinson is a portrait photographer currently completing her BFA at Cornish College of the Arts.

This month's CoCA Star is Curatorial Intern, Alex Robinson. Alex first started interning with CoCA in January, and has been dazzling us with her art installation skills and keen eye for detail ever since. If you have been at one of our events over the last few months you have probably seen Alex taking lead at our membership table. We count ourselves lucky to have her as part of the CoCA team!

Alex is an artist working primarily on portrait photography. Her work focuses on the stories of queer individuals, and explores the idea of self understanding and awareness. "I'm a queer artist working primarily on portrait photography. The large majority of my work focuses on the stories of queer individuals. Currently I am in school at Cornish College of the Arts, and interning for CoCA. Through these things I am building my voice as an artist and learning about myself and my practice."

As part of her studies at Cornish, Alex has been working on a narrative series that is an exploration of the idea of self understanding or awareness. Alex recently collaborated with artist Amina Maya on a project about the intersections between race, gender, and sexuality. "Intersections" is currently on view at Presidents Gallery at Cornish. See more images from the series "Intersections" below.
