CoCA Lab: Carl Lawrence

CoCA Lab: Artist in Residence Program

Featuring Carl Lawrence

For May and June we are proud to have Carl Lawrence, director of Seattle based performance company Modern Recollections, as our CoCA lab artist.

His plan for the two month residency is an exploration and design of a monumental performance art piece with a working title, "The Deposition of a Lost and Weary Heart." Inspired by S.A. Andree's failed arctic balloon expedition of 1896, he'll create a performance that will transform elements of theatre, dance, symphony, and installation into an illusory vision of the impossible.

CoCA Lab Artist Residency: Phase I

Join us for Art Attack in May to get a preview of the workings towards a grand culmination of his residency on June 11, which will be a largescale operatic performance piece at a location soon to be announced. This visual stunner will bring together a cadre of all star choreographers, composers, plus clothing and costume designers as well as a cast of over 20 performers and non-performers alike.
