CoCA Lab: Marion Walker

CoCA Lab: Artist in Residence Program

Featuring Jessie Smith with Marion Walker

For July and August we are excited to have Seattle artist and musician, Jessie Smith, with her band, Marion Walker join us for the CoCA Lab artist residency.

Marion Walker is currently recording a new album, and during their two month residency they will choreograph and shoot a new dance film/music video to accompany the album. This video will be considered the second in a series, the first being "We Won't Be In Love Much Longer" which Marion Walker made last year. Both the new album and video are to be released in 2017.

Join us for Art Attack on July 9 for a screening of Marion Walker's 2015,“We Won’t Be In Love Much Longer,” a hybrid dance film, music video, and art flick – a nostalgic episode in the dead of a Southern summer night. Then return on August 13 to help Marion Walker kick off their upcoming tour which begins right after their CoCA residency ends. Marion Walker will be playing live throughout the night!

About Marion Walker:

Marion Walker is a Rock'n'Roll band of sweethearts with sharp teeth from Seattle, WA and Reno, NV. Their music is a head-on collision between doomy, bleak worlds and fuzzed-out, technicolor tones.

Formed in 2012, Marion Walker is fronted by Jessie Marion Smith (Saint Genet, Dead Bird Movement) and Kyle Walker Akins (Think in French, Yesir). Marion Walker tours extensively around the United States and has released several EPs and compilations. They are currently in the process of recording a new full-length LP.

Jessie and Kyle are working artists in addition to their musical pursuits. Jessie is a choreographer, dancer, and filmmaker. Kyle is a visual artist, sound engineer, and filmmaker. They bring their collective experience in these other mediums into every aspect of Marion Walker.
