CoCA members, are you applying for a show or grant, or looking for feedback about your work? We’d love you to join us on April 20, from 11 am to 1 pm, for a portfolio review! Local art experts will meet with you for 15 minutes to review your work. Depending on the number of participants, you may be able to sit with more than one reviewer.

Cost:  $10
Slots available: 16
Reviewers: Michael Sweney, Devon Chan Dunham, Laurie Kearney, Nichole DeMent, Timothy Rysdyke

The fee is now $10 per participant in order to guarantee a high level of reviewers and expand our network, as well as engage a diverse reviewer community. In addition, a portion of the revenue will be put towards a scholarship program for some artists that require financial accessibility in the next sessions.

Our Reviewers

Michael Sweney is the active public art program manager at Washington State Arts Commission, working to bring art to Seattle that shapes public space. Mike is a former CoCA board member, and has worked as the Director of the Davidson Contemporary and Charles Cowles galleries.

Devon Chan Dunham is a new CoCA Board member and Seattle transplant. Devon has worked in New York for over a decade pursuing an installation career, showcasing his work in both NYC and San Francisco. He has established himself as a published art critic and writer for international art magazines and now is shifting his concentration to working for major corporations in the private and public sectors in the art world.

Laurie Kearney is a leader in the local Seattle arts community as the founder and curator of Ghost Gallery. Among her many accomplishments, Laurie has spent over 12 years working independently as a curator in Seattle, and also as a music publicist with Riot Act Media.

Timothy Rysdyke and Nichole Dement, our gallery manager and our executive/artistic director, will tag-team our fourth review table. If you haven’t met them, find out more about them on our Team page.

Details

This is an event for current CoCA members. The Portfolio Review will be held on the east side of the Tashiro Kaplan (TK) building at 115 Prefontaine Pl. S (opposite side of building CoCA is located in).  We will be at the door to let you in and direct you, but once inside the main lobby, the VCR room is the first room on the left. Tables with reviewers will be set up, and all paid members may start signing up for reviewers as soon as 10:50 am. Come early; all review meetings are first come, first served.

Digital and print portfolios of your artwork are welcome, as are artist statements if you have them ready to share and there is time.  We strongly recommend you have all files and images ready in a folder on your computer or a physical portfolio prepared for the reviewer ahead of time. This location does not have WiFi, so we encourage all digital portfolios to be compiled to your hard drive or on a folder saved on your computer. Hard copy portfolio reviews are also welcome!

Each review session will last 15 minutes. Depending on the number of CoCA members participating, you may have more than one opportunity to sit with various reviewers. We guarantee one reviewer minimum and will try our best to fit in as many reviews as we can within the time allotted.

Spots are limited so be sure to secure yours by registering and paying through the form below, which will be available by Sunday, April 7 at noon. First come, first served!
