“My works examine women’s roles and relationship, encouraging discussion around multiculturalism and questions political stereotypes. These colorful women that are painted, do not segregate women. It is about encouraging inclusivity regardless of race or identity.
I was born in London, England and moved to WA in 2007. My heritage is rich from growing up with family that were born in Africa, and lineage that traces back to Gujarat India. I consider myself multicultural which is reflected in the women that I paint.
These works are often a direct reaction to political and social injustices regarding women from the BIPOC community. They often manifest as images of strong women In vibrant color. I intentionally use a vibrant color is in order to address the systematic whitewashing of People of color.”
