Artist’s Statement:
“Beauty in imperfection is an ongoing theme throughout my work and I love exploring unconventional techniques to convey movement and emotional depth.
My process includes dry pigments rubbed into wet paint, distressing metal leafs over dripped and weathered surfaces–all in an effort to elevate the work and infuse emotional depth. The nature of painting is both the releasing and the gaining of control, sacrificing the precious in favor of an unknown whole.
I love painting birds as they are symbolic of freedom and nature. Through light and movement, these fresh, optimistic creatures overlay perfectly onto watery, loose backdrops to evoke the viewer’s own personal experiences.”
