Onward and Upward

Whether it be painting, collaging, or sculpting, I am constantly striving to create. I enjoy working with my hands and being responsible for the completion of projects from start to finish. Finding solace in the meticulousness of creation has become an essential part of my life. My hope is that I can give people a fresh perspective and inspire them to create for themselves.

This show displays a wide range of my work over the last several years. My collage works are the result of countless hours of flipping through old magazines, hunting for unique and intriguing imagery, then carefully cutting and arranging them into new scenes. On the other hand, my paintings are more of an exploration into the complex relationship of color. I draw out an arrangement of shapes into something reminiscent of a landscape or sculptural form, and then play around with color to see what direction I want to go in. I mix all my paints to match my chosen color palette and begin to paint. Each color has several coats to ensure that they are fully saturated and that the end result is a bold, clean, and complete work.

Chris Jameson

Chris Jameson is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in the greater Seattle area. He has an Associates degree In Fine Arts with an emphasis in sculpture, but has gravitated toward painting and collaging over the last few years. Chris works a full time job and has recently started a family, welcoming a new daughter into the world this last September. He is an avid skateboarder, and has been involved in the local skateboarding scene for the last decade and a half. He has filmed a number of video parts over the years and has had photos in several magazines. Chris began to delve into the arts as a way to keep himself busy amidst several injuries, including a knee surgery and a broken wrist.

Chris has shown work locally in several spaces over the years, including a few smaller showings around town as well as several larger group shows. He has also assisted some more prominent artists in painting a handful of murals. This show however, is his largest display of work so far, ranging from whimsical collage work to simplified abstractions that depict the interplay between shape and color.

CoCA ShowWalls is a show opportunity for CoCA Artist in partnership with local businesses.
